We are less than a week from starting this year's fast leading up to Easter Sunday. Many of you will be choosing to do the Daniel Fast, but there are several other choices as well!
If you ARE preparing to some type of food fast, especially the Daniel Fast, it is SO important to prepare yourself for ahead of time. I did NOT do this very well last year and the first several days were quite miserable!
So a few things to consider leading up to the Daniel Fast...
*Start drinking more water now! This will help your body adjust to all the of the fruits and vegetables you will be eating and will help you gradually cut out the more sugary drinks we tend to consume.
*Gradually cut out any sweeteners throughout the next week. I suffered from sugar withdrawl headaches last year from going cold turkey - not fun!
*Check out grocery stores now to find Daniel Fast friendly food. And start reading labels now! Places like Trader Joe's are making it easier and less expensive to buy healthy, natural foods! I will be posting more about this as we go.
*Explore books and websites about the Daniel Fast. There are more and more resources to help with the Daniel Fast all the time. I highly recommend The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola as well as her blog, The Ultimate Daniel Fast.
*Try a few recipes ahead of time. Smoothies, soups and salads are great foods to experiment with now since they will become a lot of your meals during the fast. Also try to make some staples ahead of time to lighten your load once the fast starts. Make a large batch of brown rice and freeze in smaller portion sizes. Make and freeze a soup in portion sizes for busy meal times.
Have you done the Daniel Fast before? How did you prepare? Would you have done anything differently?
So blessed to be on this journey together!
