Day 1: Hungry, Hungry, Hungry!

***Before you start reading these personal reflections from three different Christ's Place attendees participating in the 21 Day Fast, make sure you sign up for the e-mail devotional that will be sent out every morning! You can sign up and find more fast resources here.***

I feel like a "veteran" (using the word very lightly) at this Daniel Fast thing, only because I did it last year as well.

And I thought that would make this year easier.

Yep, I was wrong.

But I suppose if it was easy, I would miss the whole point of fasting - making a SACRIFICE to put more attention on God and depending on Him to meet my needs.

One of those needs today: hunger.

I found a lot of foods I enjoyed on the Daniel Fast last year, so I felt somewhat prepared. But even with all that fast-friendly food around, I was still hungry.

How often am I that hungry for HIM?

About the time I was feeling very frustrated - and getting a little crabby, to be honest - I received today's e-mail devotional from the church. Two lines really spoke to me...

The only expectations that really matter are the ones that God has for us. He asks us to live by faith and trust Him to take care of details.

I am hungry to know what He has for me. I know this fast will help me to walk more in faith and trust Him for EVERYTHING, including satisfying any hunger I may encounter.

And on that note, a few of the things we ate and enjoyed today...

Baked Oatmeal
Celery and natural peanut butter ($1.79 at Trader Joe's - GREAT price)
Unsweetened dried pineapple (Trader Joe's)
Asparagus-Mushroom Saute with brown rice
Raspberry-Mango "Ice Cream"

*****

How was Day 1 for you?

You are welcome to share what you are fasting this year and how God is speaking to you in the comment section on each post as we journey together!

Blessings,
Erin
