Day 14: Preparation

I help lead a ministry here at church. I pray for this ministry a lot - for the meetings, for those who attend, for the other leaders and so on.

But this Friday, I realized that wasn't enough...

All year, these Fridays have come and gone and the actual meetings have gone really well.

It's the prep time on those Fridays - getting the kids and myself ready and out the door and such - that have been extremely stressful.

It took me until this Friday to realize that Satan doesn't have to attack the actual meeting to make an impact. He can mess things up during the preparation time that can seem so insignificant to us.

I would show up late or stressed out and with my mind in a million other places - just what the enemy wanted. While everything seemed to go smoothly once the meeting started, little things here and there would fall through the cracks.

What's my point?

We're in a time of preparation right now. Preparation for a harvest of souls at Easter - not just at Christ's Place, but around the world.

We're praying for attendance and souls saved at Easter, but what about the worship practices leading up to it? The pastors preparing messages? The children's ministry lining up workers? Guest services finding greeters and parking lot attendants and all of the other integral positions? Each and every volunteer as they get ready and on their way next Saturday and Sunday?

Our preparation prayers don't just have to be for those preparing at the church. Those who are inviting visitors to Easter service need prayers NOW as well. And as we've mentioned before, we should be praying now for hearts to be softened and open to those invitations.

God is definitely in the details and a lot of those details happen in the preparation. Ask Him to show you what areas of preparation need our prayers now and then do it!

“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way” -
“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”
~Mark 1:2-3
